The client

BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT promotes wider social and economic progress through the advancement of IT science and practice. As the professional membership and accreditation body for IT, BCS serves over 70,000 members in the UK and internationally, delivering a range of professional development tools for practitioners and employees.

The challenge

In order to maintain an up-to-date website which was closely aligned with their wider digital strategy, BCS commissioned Box UK to perform an evaluation of their existing site and identify any areas for improvement.

During this process the organisation also decided to undertake a comprehensive rebranding of both their online and offline assets. As a result of this, an updated website was required to incorporate both the recommendations from Box UK’s review and the new branding.

Our solution

Working closely with BCS, Box UK’s User Experience consultants evaluated how well their existing website balanced business objectives and user needs.

Having identified a need to increase communication with their members and differentiate themselves with exclusive functionality a bespoke member network was architected from the Amaxus CMS platform. Forums, groups, instant chat and much more were integrated into this module to further increase interaction and engagement with BCS’ users.

The outcome

The relaunch of the BCS website and member network resulted in sustained increased traffic to the site, which has given the institute greater brand visibility online.

Members are now able to access exclusive information and functionality through the dedicated social network, which is helping increase sign-up and retention rates, with a 36% increase in membership page traffic following the redesign.
