Severn Trent Plc is a leading FTSE 100 company with a focus on the provision, removal and treatment of water. Their core businesses are Severn Trent Water, which provides services to over 3.7 million households across the heart of the UK, and Severn Trent Services, one of the world’s leading suppliers of water and waste water treatment solutions, currently based in the US but with a growing international presence.
Severn Trent Plc wanted to progress their online strategy in line with their status as a FTSE 100 company, where online annual reports are becoming expected by stakeholders and management. They called upon Box UK to create a microsite which would house their 2010 Annual Report and Accounts.
The web application development needed to reflect the style and structure of the printed report while maintaining the look and feel of their main site, to ensure a consistent brand image and messaging across all of ST Plc’s online and offline channels.
Box UK’s User Experience (UX) consultancy team created the initial wireframe designs for the micro site; to provide greater cost-effectiveness designs for basic functionality were created and supplemented by three optional, additional features, two of which were taken up by the client.
The micro site was built on the Amaxus Content Management System, as it provides a highly scalable and flexible framework for development. To improve the service to visitors to the micro site, Box UK also developed and implemented a feature which allowed users to select distinct sections of the report and download them as a single, compiled document.
Thanks to their new Online Report and Accounts, Severn Trent plc now have valuable additional channels through which they can communicate to stakeholders, customers and other key markets. As the site is powered by Amaxus it’s fast, reliable and provides Severn Trent Plc with the ideal base to continue to expand their brand online.
