New training series

Box UK are delighted to announce the launch of a series of Masterclass sessions to support aspiring developers, project managers, experience designers, business analysts and more in their professional development. Run by highly experienced members of our award-winning software development team, the free sessions are open, not just to NEETs but anyone interested in learning new skills and techniques, offering insight into the challenges and opportunities of working in a commercial environment.

Software Development Masterclass

The first sessions in the Masterclass series will be taking place on 27th October and 3rd November and are focused on software development. Working closely with a select group during a four-hour workshop, Box UK’s Principal Developers guide attendees through a microcosm of a software project, from requirements capture through to coding, code review and issue tracking, introducing the main concepts of Agile development as part of interactive exercises.

By the end of the session participants will have experienced the lifecycle of a development sprint and gained exposure to the practical and pragmatic techniques employed in real-world scenarios by industry-leading teams. Through one-to-one tutoring attendees can also take advantage of having direct access to expert developers with years of experience working on a variety of software projects; this format also ensures that any advice can be tailored for maximum relevance and impact.

Nurturing talent

Box UK has a long history of promoting career development and knowledge-sharing, incorporating internal tech meetings, peer mentoring, open source code libraries and public Hack Days. The Masterclass series sees Box UK continue to support this core value, the importance of which was reinforced following the recent news that nearly one million young people are NEETs (not in education, employment or training).

Box UK’s Managing Director Benno Wasserstein said in response to the announcement: “At Box UK we aim to become recognised as the spiritual home for emerging talent and industry leaders, and are committed to nurturing up-and-coming digital talent as part of this objective. The Masterclass sessions enable us to help aspiring professionals gain valuable experience and skills, while also extending the mentoring skills of our team. We’re thrilled to be launching the development sessions, and are looking forward to future courses covering a wide variety of disciplines.”
