UN National Inventory of War Memorials Screenshot  The UK National Inventory of War Memorials (UKNIWM), established in 1989 in an attempt to record the memorials of the First World War and other historic conflicts, is now available online with  the launch of its website and searchable database.

The website, developed by Box UK, currently provides access to details of over 53,000 memorials, with an eventual 70,000 expected to be recorded. The site contains a wealth of information that will be invaluable to researchers interested in the history of art or social history, military history and genealogy.
