Amaxus is based on XML and established web standards. Standards are crucial in implementing e-Government as they ensure:

  • Systems can communicate
  • Information can be shared
  • Best practices are adopted

Implementation of standards within Amaxus includes:

Technology and Interoperability: The architecture has been developed according to e-Government Interoperability Standards. A key benefit of Amaxus is the ability to share information between websites using XML. Content can be displayed on multiple channels (e.g. digital TV, PDA) and in multiple formats (e.g. Low-graphics version, text only, PDF etc).

Metadata: The Amaxus local authority model is consistent with the e-Government Metadata Framework.

Accessibility: Amaxus enables Local Authorities to easily meet the relevant accessibility standards. Accessible content is created automatically by the system, with no manual intervention required.
