Case Study #1: Remote offices and users

Box UK is an expanding company with a diverse set of requirements for its network. With multiple offices and staff often on customer sites demonstrating work in progress, an innovative network solution was required. The cost-effective solution was to use Virtual Private Networking (VPN) to connect remote offices and users with encrypted tunnels over that low-cost public network - the Internet.

Case Study #2: Messaging and Collaboration

A business running on a legacy email system which was showing its age. The system was slow and limiting, sometimes taking significant time to send and receive email frustrating both customers and staff.  Most of the business operated using inefficient paper-based processes.

The solution was to implement an email system based on Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Outlook. The high-performance internal messaging improved the staff productivity, the calendaring and group scheduling features allowed people to manage their time more efficiently and work flow tools were developed to automate business processes.

Case Study #3: Legacy Business Applications

A business used a bespoke database application to manage it's clients and drive its business.  The business was rapidly diversifying with more people working from remote offices (including abroad).  The application was very database intensive and could not operate across the low-bandwidth connections connecting remote offices. A solution was needed to allow staff to continue to use the application in the new environment.

The solution was to implement a Citrix Metaframe and NFuse platform for remote application delivery. This enabled the application to be delivered to all the remote users and offices with the performance they demanded.

Case Study #4: Information Security

A business with a number of industrial and government clients wanted to be able to respond to customer concerns regarding the security of passing commercially sensitive information across their email systems.

The solution was to implement a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) to enable the business to use Digital Certificates to sign (positively identify the sender) and encrypt (protect the contents) all emails with commercially sensitive content.

Frequently Asked Questions

Box UK has helped organisations answer the following questions.  Why not contact Box UK at itsolutions@boxuk.com with yours?

How can I collaborate better with colleagues?

Solutions such as Microsoft Exchange with group scheduling, appointments and task management can enable teams to communicate and collaborate more effectively.

Is our Internet connection suitably protected?

Although invaluable to many businesses, an Internet connection can also attract unwelcome attention from snooping competitors and bored teenagers. Request a “no-panic” risk assessment to ensure your data and systems have the protection you require.

Is our anti-virus protection sufficient?

Recent publicity surrounding viruses and worms such as Melissa and LoveLetter have highlighted the need for effective virus measures, not only to protect in-house systems and data, but to protect against inadvertent propagation to suppliers and clients.

Are we protecting our data properly?

An audit of your backup infrastructure with recommendations and a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) detailing roles, responsibilities and procedures in the advent of data loss can ensure your business is prepared for the unexpected.

Could I work remotely?

With a remote access solution, it is possible to securely connect to a company network from home, a client site or with a mobile phone. Using Virtual Private Networking (VPN), it need not be expensive when compared to traditional modem dial-up.
