Basic Skills Agency
The Basic Skills Agency an independent organisation. However, we’re mainly funded by the Government through grants from the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and the Welsh Assembly Government. We’re not-for-profit and a charity. Our patron is Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal.
The Agency's focus is on innovation, development, advice and dissemination: development so that we can find out what works most effectively, and dissemination so others know what we have found out.
The Agency played a particularly important role in Wales where it is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Welsh Assembly Government’s “cradle to grave” National Basic Skills Strategy for Wales.
