Can Amaxus ensure our sites meet W3C/WAI/Bobby accessibility standards?
The W3C - within their Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) project - produced a set of guidelines in 1999, to aid users with the creation of accessible content and code for web sites. These guidelines were split into three 'priorities' - (1, 2 and 3). A site adhering to all priority 1 checkpoints could claim level 'A' conformance, all priority 1 and 2 checkpoints would equate to 'AA' conformance, and 'AAA' for all (priority 1, 2 and 3) checkpoints.
A software application ('Bobby') was later produced (by a third-party) which tested conformance to these guidelines, and hence the term 'Bobby standards/guidelines' is often used to refer to the WAI version 1 guidelines.
Amaxus includes built-in functionality to help you achieve the highest possible accessibility adherence, including XHTML and CSS output, semantic mark-up of content, access ('hot') keys, multiple navigation and search facilities, multi-lingual capabilities, and many other features.
The WAI project is currently producing a completely re-written (version 2) set of guidelines and checkpoints. Box UK will continue to update Amaxus in-line with any updates of accessibility guidelines or best practices.
