Spam

E-mail Spam

Spam is unsolicited E-mail. Usually, it's a form of bulk mail. However, to the recipient, it is junk E-mail that they have not requested.  With spam it is often the case that the recipient cannot unsubscribe from receiving further unsolicited E-mail, and any E-mail sent to the spammer only confirms that the E-mail address is active, which in turn, encourages further spam.

Search Engine Spam

Also known as Spamdexing, which is a combination of spam and index.  It is the practice of including information in a web page in order to 'trick' search engines into including the page in its index.  This then produces results that satisfy the website owner, but usually dissatisfies the search engine and the users of the search engine.  A search engine can drop sites that use spam from their listings, and in certain circumstances they can even ban a range of sites or IP addresses.
