CMS

What is a Content Management System, or CMS?

Put simply, a Content Management System is a piece of software that allows an organisation to manage content.

Content is in essence, any type or 'item' of digital information that is used on a web page. This can be:

  • Text
  • Images
  • Graphics
  • Video
  • Sound

or anything that can be published on a public website, Intranet or Extranet.

By combining rules, processes and workflows centralised web teams and decentralised authors can create, edit, manage and publish all the content of a web page within a set of prescribed framework or requirements.
