Update Jun 8, 2018: We are delighted to announce that the BMJ Best Practice App was named a winner in both categories at the WalesOnline Digital Awards ceremony!

Success in the WalesOnline Digital Awards

The finalists for this year’s WalesOnline Digital Awards have recently been announced, with software development consultancy Box UK named as a finalist in two categories for its innovative work with leading medical journal the BMJ.

The awards showcase the very best in Wales’ thriving digital sector, and Box UK has been honoured for its successful delivery of the BMJ Best Practice App project in both the “Best Mobile App” and “Best Global Reach” categories.

The BMJ Best Practice App

The BMJ Best Practice App is relied upon by over 100,000 medical professionals worldwide; delivering specialist advice on more than 1,000 medical topics, to aid clinical decision-making at point-of-care.

Box UK has worked closely with the BMJ to rebuild the app from the ground-up, keeping speed and accessibility front-of-mind to ensure that the correct information is display quickly and accurately, whenever and wherever it’s needed.

Through the rebuild project, the app has been transformed from an underperforming service into one unique in its market; providing evidence-based information in an easy-to-use yet clinically-accurate way, both online and offline.

Having delivered improvements including a 70% reduction in download times and 60% reduction in storage space, the new app has received extremely positive feedback from users:

“The best thing ever created. Fantastic format for learning about all the different conditions, presentations, examinations and management.”

A life-saving service

“This is a fantastic result for Box UK and to BMJ, and a great reflection of the hard work that both teams have put into improving the Best Practice App,” said Benno Wasserstein, Managing Director at Box UK in response to the announcement. “This is a truly life-saving service, delivering diagnosis and treatment information to medical professionals across the globe, and we’re extremely proud to have been involved in the successful delivery of the project. We now look forward to continuing to support the BMJ on their journey, as well as hearing the final result from WalesOnline of course.”
