Box UK receive “Project Team of the Year” medal

Box UK has been chosen as a medallist in the “Project Team of the Year” category at the BCS & Computing UK IT Industry Awards. The award was presented in a lavish ceremony at Battersea Park Events Arena on the 10th November, attended by more than 1,000 technology professionals from across the UK.

World Vision Micro

The digital specialists were honoured for their work on the Microloans project, which allows people to fund small loans online, helping entrepreneurs in developing countries turn their business ideas into reality. The pilot scheme, driven by international charity World Vision, saw the Box UK project team work closely with WV’s internal teams, including the US branch, to deliver the technical codebase for the system.

Using a flexible Agile project management methodology and various communication tools, including video conferencing, live demos, workshops and visits, the Microfinance initiative was launched successfully with its loans providing jobs for nearly 1 million people across some of the world’s poorest regions.

Finalists in four categories

David Clarke, MBE, Chief Executive Officer of BCS said: “The awards are very rigorously judged so to be a winner or medallist means that you really are the best of the best.”

Beating organisations including the National Grid, Standard Life and Tesco.com, this recognition continues Box UK’s history of UK IT Industry Award success. The company and their clients were named as finalists in 3 additional categories in this year’s awards: “IT Employer of the Year”, “Mobile IT Innovation of the Year” and, alongside World Vision UK, “Community Project of the Year”, and Box UK was a medallist in the “IT Employer of the Year” category at the 2010 awards.

Going the extra mile

Speaking in response to the announcement Box UK’s Managing Director Benno Wasserstein said: “This is truly a great achievement for the company; we pride ourselves on delivering excellence to enable our clients to meet their business objectives. The team at Box UK dedicated themselves to understanding the cause behind the project, fostering a strong team spirit which helped them go the extra mile to meet the needs of the charity. We deeply value our relationship with World Vision and are looking forward to continuing to work together to make a difference to those in need.”
