Investors in People Silver

Following assessment by national quality accreditation body Investors in People (IIP), Box UK has been awarded IIP Silver status, held by only a small percentage of organisations throughout the country. The achievement comes after Box UK demonstrated exceptional commitment to its people through the completion of an additional 76 evidence requirements beyond the basic standard, which aims to help businesses improve performance through the effective management and development of their teams.

Praise for people focus

Since receiving Investors in People Bronze accreditation in 2011, Box UK has continued to invest in all areas of its people strategy from recruitment and on-going learning to corporate social responsibility and internal communications. This strategic activity has led to the introduction of a number of initiatives that enhance the office environment such as regular social events, team mingles and competitions as well as the introduction of a dedicated charity committee. These efforts were recognised by the IIP assessors, who praised the “culture of engagement and people focus” on display throughout the organisation.

Commitment to technical excellence

As well as team satisfaction and participation, the IIP report also highlighted Box UK’s “real quest for knowledge and delivering technical excellence”, commenting that: “everyone is committed to being innovative, researching the latest technology so that they can offer the best technical service and product delivery”. This organisation-wide vision is supported by a formal Learning and Development (L&D) strategy that uses performance analysis, including 360° peer reviews, to inform annual training plans and make sure individuals are equipped with the skills needed to fulfil their role effectively. The L&D strategy also encourages knowledge to be shared throughout the team via regular tech talks, hack events and peer discussions.

Investing for growth

In response to the IIP announcement Box UK’s Managing Director Benno Wasserstein said: “We’re incredibly pleased to have received the Investors in People Silver accreditation. Only the very best organisations meet the high standards demanded by IIP, and to be recognised in this way is a great reflection of the continued dedication and drive of our team. Our people are fundamental to ensuring sustainable business success, particularly as we invest for significant growth in the coming months and years, and we’re already exploring further ways to facilitate personal and professional development as part of our programme of continuous improvement and expansion.”
