Awards success with online membership platform

We are pleased to announce that the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) we delivered in December last year has triumphed in the 2016 Communicator Awards – receiving the Gold Award of Excellence in the “Websites – Structure & Navigation” category, as well as the Silver Award of Distinction in the “Websites – Charitable Organizations / Non-Profit” category.

The 435,000-strong membership institution achieved further success in the “Online Advertising & Marketing – Microsite” category, where its Nursing Counts site – also developed by Box UK – received an additional Silver Award of Distinction.

Supporting the nursing profession

The new RCN site was launched in December last year following an extensive overhaul of the membership institution’s online platform; a digital transformation project that was supported at every stage by Box UK’s team of business and technical analysts, user experience consultants, developers and testers.

The Sitecore Experience Platform was chosen to underpin the project due to its market-leading combination of power and flexibility, while a User Centred Design approach was employed to ensure that the motivations and constraints of the RCN’s audience remained at the heart of the new solution.

As a result, the Royal College of Nursing digital experience has been transformed from a passive information resource and support service into a dynamic, real-time network of engaged care and nursing professionals; facilitating innovation, education and collaboration as well as informing and shaping the policies to build a stronger nursing profession for the future.

The success of the project is underlined by the overwhelmingly positive user feedback received both during the initial usability testing phases and since launch:

“Massive improvement on looks and ease of navigation.”

“It’s a big improvement on the current website. It’s crisp and clean. It’s less cluttered than the current site. It’s engaging and colourful, and still looks professional. It conveys the right image.”

“Great look and feel. Easy to navigate. Amazing how you’ve taken a huge content site, and structured it in a well laid out way.”

“Great! Straight to the point. Beautiful on phone and iPad. Well Done.”

A commitment to digital transformation

Speaking in response to the announcement Benno Wasserstein, Managing Director at Box UK said: “The success the Royal College of Nursing has achieved in the prestigious Communicator Awards is exceptional. The membership institution embarked on a long-term programme of digital transformation in order to better serve its 435,000 members, and this latest achievement highlights their commitment to achieving this goal. We’re very proud to have worked with the RCN to deliver their award-winning site, and look forward to continuing to support them in this journey.”

Benchmarking innovation

“The work entered in the 22nd Annual Communicator Awards serves as a benchmark in gauging the innovative ideas and capabilities of communications and marketing professionals around the world. Each year, our entrants continue to amaze by reinventing the ways we communicate and market in an ever-changing industry.” noted Linda Day, executive director of the Academy Interactive and Visual Arts. She added, “On behalf of the entire Academy, we want to congratulate this year’s Communicator Award Entrants and Winners for their passion and dedication. We are honored to be given the opportunity to recognize such outstanding work.”
