Case study

During a discovery phase Box UK worked with the National Assembly for Wales (NAfW) to redefine their web presence and shape their digital future.

The team managed product vision workshops and undertook user research to better understand stakeholder and user needs, conducting a number of activities bilingually to gain comprehensive feedback. The insight gathered informed a user-centred Minimum Viable Project aligned with NAfW’s core objectives, to help signpost a programme of future website design and development activity.

What kind of projects do we work on?

Attracting the brightest and best digital talent to its South Wales headquarters, Box UK recruits from purposely diverse backgrounds to offer an unrivalled depth and breadth of experience.

Various devices showing examples of Box UK projects

Our team of web and software developers, solution architects, UX consultants, visual design experts, system engineers and product owners have worked on a wide and varied range of projects including:

  • Delivering engaging and dynamic websites for clients such as Ogi, helping them bring their innovative fullfibre broadband offering to market.
  • Creating streamlined, user-centred design concepts as we did for NHS Wales Informatics Service (now Digital Health and Care Wales), covering 11 public-facing websites and 3 million potential users.
  • Providing CTO as a Service activities to help organisations like Welsh housing association ateb achieve their long-term digital transformation ambitions.
  • Delivering fully-functioning bespoke ecommerce platforms for global retailers like OKdo, who can now serve seven country sites in six languages from a single installation.
  • Supporting wholesale digital transformation programmes for organisations including the Royal College of Nursing, where a website overhaul supported their aim to positively impact government policy.
  • Developing sophisticated mobile experiences such as the BMJ Best Practice app, which provides life-saving medical information for healthcare professionals across the globe.
  • Guiding organisations such as Cardiff University through tailored programmes of Agile coaching, giving them the tools they need to become more reactive and flexible.
  • Overhauling underperforming systems to improve internal efficiency and end-user satisfaction, like we did for GPWales to support them in their journey to digitise critical healthcare services.
  • Building global communities through platforms like RS Components DesignSpark, which connects 750,000 engineers worldwide.
  • Offering guidance to help organisations move forward with their digital strategy, as we did when National Trust Wales needed an efficient solution for delivering bilingual content online.
Case study

As the pressure being faced by GP surgeries increased massively in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, GP Wales made the decision to accelerate development of their Locum Hub, which focuses specifically on securing temporary locum cover for shifts within general practice.

With the support of Box UK, the updated Locum Hub Wales platform offers a user-friendly, high-performance online jobs and shifts database, and represents a huge step forward in the digitisation of Wales’ healthcare services.

"Excellent training. The theories and principles were given practical context and we left with great advice that we could take away and start using immediately. I learned a lot."
