Box UK commits to renewable-backed energy

Enterprise software development company Box UK has signed a new contract with energy provider E.ON, guaranteeing that all electricity supplied will be backed by 100% renewable sources until October 2022.

Since building its first wind farm in 1991 E.ON has continued to innovate and develop in wind, solar and biomass technologies, investing £3.3bn in UK renewables in the last ten years alone. Its 100% renewable guarantee ensures that all electricity used by Box UK through the duration of the contract will be backed by renewable sources, including E.ON’s own renewable assets, supply agreements with independent UK wind generators, and the purchase of renewable electricity certificates.

Box UK has also previously committed to investing in sustainable initiatives wherever possible – including switching off servers when not in use – to deliver further environmental benefits.

“We’re very pleased to have joined E.ON’s 100% renewable-backed electricity programme,” said Benno Wasserstein, Managing Director at Box UK. “Ensuring we follow good environmental practices is incredibly important to us, and we are committed to working with suppliers and employees to make continuous improvements that reduce our environmental impact and enhance individual health, safety and wellbeing.”
