Box UK at Digital Festival

We are pleased to announce that Box UK will be delivering a programme of activity at the upcoming Digital Festival 2018, taking place at the Wales Millennium Centre from the 21st-22nd May.

Now in its sixth year, the event is the largest of its kind in Wales, and will bring together more than 2,000 attendees and 100 expert speakers. The agenda comprises over 60 sessions, including presentations, round tables and interactive workshops, which will explore current digital best practice alongside future trends and innovations, to help attendees optimise their own strategies.

Extensive programme of events

As well as maintaining a presence throughout the event via a dedicated exhibition space, Box UK will be leading three different activities over the course of the festival.

The first of these is a “Creating and implementing digital transformation culture” workshop which will see Box UK Business Analyst Allie Brock and Senior Account Manager Jaime Hindle joined by Dave Cole, DesignSpark Platform Manager at RS Components, who Box UK have worked with for many years to deliver award-winning projects. They’ll explore what makes a digital transformation programme effective, and how to remove common obstacles to success and so achieve crucial competitive advantage.

The DesignSpark project will also feature in the workshop led by Ian Jenkins, Principal Developer at Box UK, titled “From legacy to new – the Anfield approach”. In this session Ian will be sharing the novel approach taken to upgrading a legacy platform, which minimised technical debt and risk.

The last of the sessions is a roundtable led by Box UK Project Manager Damien McKiver, titled “Open source, collaboration & partnerships in the digital ecosystem”. Featuring Rex Cooper, Chief Technology Officer at Box UK client BMJ, Matthew Steel, Data Acquisition Leader at the Office of National Statistics, Entrepreneur David Chalmers, and Martin Shelford, Chief Strategy Officer and Director at MangoHR, this session considers the growing importance of open source software, APIs, the open banking concept and more in the digital ecosystem.

Building on recent success

Box UK’s appearance at Digital Festival sees the software development consultancy continue to grow its presence within the local community, both through external engagements and its own programme of events.

Over the past year the organisation has hosted a number of events that provide the opportunity for digital and tech enthusiasts to explore common industry challenges, discuss new announcements and trends, and share insight into good practice; featuring talks from Box UK clients including Hodge Bank, RS Components, BMJ and the Royal College of Nursing.

Celebrating innovation

Commenting on Box UK’s involvement with the event, Box UK Managing Director Benno Wasserstein said: “We’re extremely pleased to be partnering with Digital Festival for their latest event, which looks set to be bigger and better than ever before. In terms of digital and technological capability Wales has gone from strength to strength in recent years, and this event provides a great opportunity to both celebrate recent innovations and achievement, and build on this to ensure the local industry continues to thrive. We’re thrilled to be a part of this exciting opportunity, and looking forward to sharing insight with the community.”
